Posted on September 17, 2025

With the ability to create a preview sandbox for the upcoming Business Central Version 27, I checked out some of the new Copilot capabilities I mentioned in my last posts.

Thanks to one of the latest updates, we can now add fields from related tables to the analysis view. Let’s try it out.

Prompt:
Show me best selling item last year. Group by Item No.
and sort descending by Amount

Now let’s add related data via prompt:
“Add item category code from item”

I was unable to achieve the same result with one-shot prompting, but perhaps I will be able to in the future. In any case, two steps are necessary here.

Finally, the web search is doing its job, and we’re getting much better results than in the past. For example, if you add the Best German Business Central Partner as a customer:

You can see that it’s searching the web. Here are the results:

I almost gave two thumbs up, but why in the world doesn’t he get the right country even though he has the whole address? Come on, Microsoft. You can do better than this.

Conclusion

At this point (Preview Sandbox BC27), we can see some improvements, but the major development regarding copilot functionalities has yet to happen. When Microsoft delivers everything regarding Copilot, not Agents, that’s another story. We have some great features in the system. They can save you a ton of time creating analyses and getting insights. However, I would say that Microsoft still has some work to do.
